Our Story

The Alario Center, opening its doors in the spring of 1999, designated to be a multi-purpose facility and sports center, has become the hub of social and cultural activity on the West Bank of the mighty Mississippi River. The 2,000-seat Main Arena plays host to events from basketball and boxing to consumer shows and graduations. The center is a joint venture between the State of Louisiana, Jefferson Parish, and Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED).

Segnette Field joined the Bayou Segnette Sports Complex on May 3, 2002. This outstanding venue for baseball features grandstand seating for 650 (under a cantilevered roof with unobstructed sight lines), a professional sound system, Scoreboard and AAA-quality field lights. In February 2003, Segnette Field became the new home for Loyola University Baseball, the ballpark’s first permanent home team. Expansion!
The new Hall C expansion adds an additional 20,000 square feet of exhibit space to the Alario Center. This addition gives us the ability to have up to six basketball courts or up to ten volleyball courts and will also include a new concession stand and additional lobby space.
Over the Alario Center’s 15-year history the center has served as the training facility of the NBA’s New Orleans Hornets for 10 years and has been the practice facility of the Arena Football League’s New Orleans Voodoo. Beside numerous sports championships, the Alario Center has hosted and shot multiple movies including: “Get Hard” with Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart (2014), “Big Momma’s House 2” with Martin Lawrence (2005), ABC Family’s “Campus Confidential” (2005), and the Lifetime Movie Network’s “Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal” (2008). Television productions include: The WB’s “Star Crossed” (2013), Ring of Honor’s “Supercard of Honor VIII” and three episodes of “ROH TV” (2014), “Slam Dunk and Three-Point Championships” (twice in 2003 & 2012) while the Final Four was hosted at the Louisiana Superdome, the “SWAC Volleyball Championships” (2011) and even the Birdman music video for “Pop Bottles” featuring Lil Wayne (2007).
Main Hall
The NBA sized (94' x 50') hardwood floor makes this hall the ideal venue for basketball & volleyball events. The Main Arena has fixed arena seating for 2,000 patrons. Additional floor seating can be added for events such as concerts, boxing, or cheerleading competitions. The Alario Center has hosted numerous national and international sporting events including the 2003 Mountain Dew College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Basketball Championships (televised nationally on ESPN), the 2000 U.S.A. Weightlifting Olympic Trials (televised nationally on NBC) and the US Women's Olympic Volleyball Team exhibition match vs. Japan. In September 2003, the Alario Center hosted it's first major concert when Grammy Award winner Clint Black performed at the Alario Center. The Alario Center annually hosts the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic, the Allstate Super 60 and numerous AAU basketball events as well as a variety of events like the NOLA National Invitational gymnastics meet and grappling events.
Hall B
Purple, Green & Gold Courts
Hall B is 21,840 sq. ft. of column-free space. Hall B is a very flexible space. With it's drop down dividers the hall is comprised of three hardwood basketball courts. Using sportcourt the hall can be divided into six volleyball courts. For trade shows or fairs the hall can hold over 100 10' x 10' booths, and for banquets the hall can provide seating for up to 800 guests. Hall B also makes an excellent space for a warm-up area for cheerleading & gymnastic events. Hall B is separated from the Main Arena by an airwall that can be opened to create over 30,000 square feet of column-free space.
Hall C

Blue Court
Hall C is our newest addition opened in 2008, for the first couple years it was used primarily as the practice facility of the New Orleans Pelicans but now it is available for rental. This hall is 19,250 sq. ft. of column-free space with concrete floors, power drops built right into the floor and exceptional lighting. Hall C can be configured as two NBA regulation basketball courts, either two or three volleyball courts or up to 126 8' x 10' booth space. Hall C is our most flexible space complete with it's own entrance, concession stands and restrooms!
