Mardi Gras 2015 at the Alario Center

With Fat Tuesday right around the corner, the Alario Center kicks off the 2015 season in New Orleans style with two exciting Carnival spectaculars!

This weekend, the Alario Center will proudly host, for the first time ever, the Original Illinois Club and their annual Carnival Ball. The organization, founded in 1895 by Mr. Wiley Knight, staged their first ball as a means for black New Orleanians to participate in the cultural and social scene historically segregated and dominated by whites. We look forward to hosting a memorable event for the Original Illinois Club, their members, guests and royalty. Unfortunately, this is a closed event and only open to invited guests.

Next weekend, we welcome back old friends – the Mystic Krewe of the Lords of Leather! In their first appearance at the Alario Center since 2010, Lords will present their Annual Bal Masque XXXII, “That’s Entertainment.” Bianca Del Rio, winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6, will once again co-emcee the Lords of Leather Bal Masque with Darwin Singleton, so entertainment is guaranteed!
